The u3a (Third Age Trust) suggests that we should assess risks associated with our activities. The committee realises that this isn’t something you enjoy having to do; after all we all just want to get on with the things we like doing. Nevertheless, it’s something we need, so we have tried to make the process as easy as possible. Our intention to have risk assessments for our activities is contained in our Health and Safety Policy.
The Third Age Trust has produced some helpful documents, including some checklists for different activities. There are links to these below. We have used these to produce some draft risk assessments which you might be able to use either as they are, or with some minor amendments. You will probably find that you have thought about most of this already, though you might not have not actually written it down.
Draft risk assessments
We have produced some draft assessments which may be suitable for your group's activities. If you think that one of the assessments below is suitable, you can use it as it is. You can add to it if necessary. The Table below contains links to risk assessments in pdf and word format. You can view a pdf on the website but you can't change it. If you need to amend the assessment for your own group you can download the Word (docx) version.

Doing your own assessment
If you think that none of the drafts above are suitable, you can do your own assessment instead. The Third Age Trust has produced some useful checklists to help you do this, and these can be downloaded from the list below. It may be sufficient to complete the checklist and add a statement that you believe that any risks have been reduced to acceptable levels.
